Synopsis

"Hold Still" follows photographer James Acton whose life is upended when he falls for Ophelia Brennan, a lawyer caught in a complicated personal and professional life.

Their paths repeatedly cross as James's unique ability to see beyond the surface sparks an unexpected connection. Ophelia confronts the recent death of her father, an engagement that is unfulfilling, and a career path that lacks passion.

Ultimately, they find solace in one another, prompting Ophelia to embrace her true self and James to acknowledge the importance of relationships alongside his art.

Ophelia

A highly intelligent and accomplished lawyer who feels trapped by the expectations of her overbearing father and her engagement to Edward, a similarly ambitious colleague. Despite her professional success, she feels a sense of emptiness and disconnection from her own desires. She is driven and ambitious, intelligent and knowledgeable, complicated, vulnerable, independent and determined, values honesty, and a secret romantic.

James

A talented and idealistic photographer, passionate about his art but struggles to make a living, resorting to corporate headshots to pay the bills. He craves artistic recognition but refuses to compromise his vision for commercial success. He is artistic and passionate, perceptive and empathetic, idealistic and principled, caring, romantic, loyal and supportive, resolute, direct, and self-aware.

Elizabeth

James's studio mate and roommate. She is a still-life food photographer. She and James have been working in the same room for basically their entire adult lives. She is supportive and loyal, perceptive, blunt and humorous, independent, talented, wise, good-natured, a matchmaker, and pragmatic.

Edward

He wants professional success and recognition, to maintain appearances, control in his relationship with Ophelia, validation from Ophelia's father, an engagement portrait, a traditional relationship, and someone to make other people happy.

He's directed commercials and industrial videos for major corporations. "Hold Still" is his third script. A time travel adventure "No Time Like The Past" and period crime drama titled "The Fourth Round" are next up to produce.
